I work with adults who seek help in the following areas:
- Relationship Trouble (individual, not couples therapy)
I am board-certified to work with adults, and I enjoy doing so. Most of my practice is designed for children and adolescents, who remain an underserved population in our community. Therefore, my treatment of adults is limited to people who are highly committed to change in their lives. In some instances that will be taking medication, or medication in conjunction with quality psychotherapy elsewhere. If seeking psychotherapy with me, I promise a full commitment on my end and would require an equal commitment on yours.
Therapeutically, I offer an eclectic but deliberate style, customizing components of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), and TEAM Therapy (developed by David Burns, MD; more details available in the Resources section).
There are a number of psychiatrists available to adults in the Bay Area. Reasons why adults have chosen treatment with me are often the same as why parents have invited me to work with their kids. I take my time to get to know you and to understand your problems within the context of your life and history. I aim for treatment to be brief, goal-oriented, solution-focused (grief excepted), and positive. I will bring energy, integrity, compassion, reliability, accessibility, responsiveness, and collaboration into our treatment relationship. I will also bring a cautious and conservative approach to medication while considering the whole you in treatment planning. If you are ready to take on a partnership with a psychiatrist to change something about your life, then let's talk further to see if we are a good fit for each other.
