Adults

I work with adults who seek help in the following areas:

  • ADHD
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Relationship Trouble (individual, not couples therapy)
  • Grief
  • Parenting

I am board-certified to work with adults, and I enjoy doing so. Most of my practice is geared towards work with children and adolescents, who remain an underserved population in our community. Therefore, my treatment of adults is limited to people who are highly committed to changing their lives, and only when there is space in the practice. With adults, I can offer medication-focused treatment alone or in partnership with a high-quality psychotherapist. If seeking psychotherapy with me, you can expect a deep commitment to helping you reach your goals, but with the knowledge that we will only get there if you are ready to commit as well.

Therapeutically, I offer an eclectic but deliberate style, customizing components of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), TEAM, and supportive approaches.

There are a number of psychiatrists available to adults in the Bay Area. Reasons why adults have chosen treatment with me are often the same as why parents have invited me to work with their children. I take my time to get to know you and to understand your problems within the context of your life and history. I aim for treatment to be brief, goal-oriented, solution-focused (grief excepted), positive, and strengths-focused. I will bring energy, integrity, compassion, reliability, accessibility, responsiveness, and collaboration into our treatment relationship. I will also bring a cautious and conservative approach to medication while considering the whole you in treatment planning.

I find that many adults are so busy taking care of others, it’s nice to offer them the chance to let someone focus on supporting them.
